That's just one of the things I like about the XP Pro version I found; the entire ISO has been set up to make it as easy as possible to install. No need for a license key at all.it's all totally automatic.!

The XP SP3 ISO that Mike linked to installed perfectly on the ~2001 Dell Inspiron 8000, loaded the proper Video drivers for 1600x1200 mode. The ISO downloaded from Archive.Org scanned clean AFTER removing the offending driver file from the OEM subdirectory, but did not install the correct video driver for the Inspiron, Downloading and installing from Dell corrected it.

I would suggest that the ISO that Mike linked to be used. Any files downloaded and burned to CD should be scanned for viruses. The ISO file downloaded from archive.org passed the Scan on initial download, but failed the scan after burning the image to CD.

I wonder how many of these ISO files have been infected with viruses. BUT won't the computer-guy at Microsoft get sad and lonely not validating XP installs! ^^^ I think I was just lucky with this one, TBH. I had a search on Google, and picked this one out at random.

As luck would have it, it installed perfectly, and never did give me any problems. No, I tell a lie; it did give one problem, but it's a long-standing one with Windows Explorer anyway. The one where it just freezes things for 30 seconds or so after closing, and says something along the lines of 'Window Explorer has been shut down to protect your computer. We are sorry for the incovenience.' Watson post-mortem debugger shows up, and says it, too, has had to be shut down.!! Aside from that, it was as good as gold. I just got fed up with it, and uninstalled.
