Ruger Old Model Single Six Serial Number History
Big time appreciate it guys!! I'm so happy that its a 1963 gun. Thats the same year I was born. Good to hear from you Steelbanger, haven't heard from you in a while. Next Saturday we have a match here, I'm using my old 1881 even though that silver front sight gets lost in the snowy background. Neat to hear that these old single six's are worth more with the original lock work.
Nov 08, 2011 Some of those Old Model Single-Sixes with the 20 and 21 prefix with the 5 1/2 in. Were single cylinder guns. But they were.22 only. Not.22 Mag only. After Ruger started making the convertibles in late 1959 or 1960, not real sure of the date, almost all Single-Sixes were convertibles.
I wondered about that! My very first pistol was a new model single six that two transcient apple pickers stole off the holster it was in on my tractor. I used to have so much fun shooting mice and gophers as I mowed or rotovated. That Ruger would get SO dirty and still always worked. I like this old model with the original lockwork. I can count 5 clicks when I cock it.
It came with the two cylinders and I believe the.22 mag came out in 1960 or so. It would have been a new and novel thing when this pistol was made. Shum 8, my boy made your 1893 picture to be the one that comes onto the screen first when you turn the computer on. He did that all on his own I take it that he REALLY likes your rifle. Thanks to you also Doc. Thought of you at the gun store the other day. There are a couple Winchester 69's and a model 72 up there.

Beautiful older bolt.22's. BUT I remembered Hoggers advice. Stick to what your're goals are. I thought boy I'd like one of those.22's but what would I do with it? Thanks again everybody!
