Preface This is the seventh edition of CSA B365, Installation code for solid-fuel-burning appliances and equipment.It supersedes the previous editions, published in 2001, 1991, 1987, 1984, 1982, and 1980. Scope 1.1 This Code specifies requirements for the installation, alteration, and maintenance of solid-fuel-burning appliances and equipment installed indoors or outdoors. 1. 1.3 In this Code, the term solid fuel includes (a) cordwood; (b) wood chips; (c) sawdust; (d) peat logs; (e) wood and other biomass pellets; (f) kernel corn; and (g) coal. 1.4 This Code does not apply to (a) incinerators; (b) site-built fireplaces; (c) process equipment; or (d) portable appliances. 1.5 In CSA standards, shall is used to express a requirement, i.e., a provision that the user is obliged to satisfy in order to comply with the standard; should is used to express a recommendation or that which is advised but not required; and may is used to express an option or that which is permissible within the limits of the standard.

Notes accompanying clauses do not include requirements or alternative requirements; the purpose of a note accompanying a clause is to separate from the text explanatory or informative material.
